Micro-current is equivalent to the amount of current that is naturally generated by the body. Micro-amp stimulation has been proven to have the ability to stimulate cellular physiology and growth. It has been scientifically proven (Cheng et al 1982) that when using the level of micro-current stimulation that ATP production (or energy production) was increased by approximately 500%, and amino acid transport was increased by 30-40%. It was also proven that when milli-amperage was utilized (the traditional TENS unit commonly used in sports), ATP generation was depleted or not found, amino acid uptake was reduced by 20-73%, and protein synthesis was inhibited by as much as 50%. Studies have found that higher voltage electrical stimulation devices inhibit healing, whereas lower amperage promotes healing.
